Kirtlyn, our oldest, lost her first tooth. Her tooth was loose for a long time, so we have been preparing her with stories of the tooth fairy. But when she went to her school and told her teachers about her tooth, they told her stories about another dental thief.
El Ratoncito Pérez.
I guess, according to Wikipedia, that the USA is really the only
place that the tooth fairy visits.
Kirtlyn put her tooth in a pillow made for her by Grandma Susan and when she woke up, sure enough there was 20 pesos in its place. We were relieved to say the least, we were worried that the tooth fairy was going to try to visit Mexico and we didn't know if it would make it past customs and how it was going to exchange money so late in the night. So good thing there is a Ratoncito Pérez in the world.
El Ratoncito Perez!!! I love it all ready. explain to me how this tradition works...CONGRATS on your first tooth Kirtlyn!!!
ReplyDeleteEl Ratoncito Perez crawls in unnoticed while you are sleeping and trades a "prize" for your tooth. It could be any prize, but Kirtlyn was excited to get pesos and buy a cup of fresh fruit with it.
ReplyDeleteShe was also excited about El Ratoncito, but she wanted him to fly or something more fairy like, and she did wake-up twice that night with nightmares. It was a little concerning to know a rat would be visiting her room that night.
Nevertheless, she promises that is was Ratoncito that visited her that night, because Ratoncito works in Mexico, and the Tooth Fairy works in America... so there you have it, can not argue with that!
Yea Kirtlyn! We are proud of you. Losing your first tooth is a big deal. We can't wait to see you guys :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the darling picture of toothless Kirtlyn. I love it!

ReplyDeleteHow cool to loose your first tooth in Mexico. I hope the rat guy doesn't scare her, it sure would me. My kids were even afraid of the tooth fairy. Love the picture.
