Kirtlyn's first Piano Recital

Last year and this summer, Kirtlyn has learned a lot about music and piano from two very talented ladies. Jesse Overton, and Kim Arcila. When school started this year, we stopped lessons, and she has been out of practice. But a few days before the recital, Kim asked Kirtlyn if she would play, and of course, Kirtlyn was all for that! She had three official practices on a piano before the recital... she is amazing!!Thomas came straight from school to see Kirtlyn play. Kirtlyn just beamed, and ran right over to see him. (She did not get up to see anyone else because she was being "professional" and staying in her seat.) It was sweet!
Riley, Kirtlyn, and London Haskins. Great friends!

Here are the kids waiting to watch the show, so proud!

Maya, Hyrum and Thomas sat still in their seats, until the recital started... of course this is how it always goes!
Kirtlyn looked like a real grown-up! She got dressed up, practiced her music (truly on her own, just singing the notes, while she pretended to play the piano), and sat in her seat in the front row until it was time for her to play.
This is Kirtlyn with her piano partner, piano teacher, (and she also happens to be the Primary president), Kim Arcila. She is a great friend to ours, and we feel truly blessed to have her in our life.
and here is Ava Powell who also came out to support Kirtlyn!
She was so lady like, getting up and down those steep stairs!
She did a great job, and I hope to figure out how to post a video tonight, so you can see it!!!

Maya visited her friends during the recital. This is her with the Arcila family

Here is the whole group at Dairy Queen, after the recital. We had a great time, and the ice-cream-blizzard-guy was just so fun for the kids!! He had to chase them to the car for me, so they would actually leave... they were just having so much fun!

Thanks to everyone that came to support Kirlyn, and we are so proud of our talented, hard working girl!!

  1. Thank you sooo much for posting about the recital. Kirtlyn, I am so proud of you for getting yourself ready and for playing in the recital. You are very brave and beautiful, so much like your mother...father, too, of course. We love you, Princess.
